Creativity connects us
Our Community Programme brings monthly paint pouring sessions to care homes across the area — giving residents, families, and staff a shared creative experience that truly matters.

Why This Matters
Art has the power to reach everyone
Loneliness and isolation remain one of the greatest challenges facing care home residents. Research consistently shows that creative activity — making something with your hands, in the company of others — is one of the most effective ways to address it.
Paint pouring requires no prior skill, no language, and no memory. It is purely sensory, joyful, and immediate. Studies show that art-based activities reduce anxiety and depression in older adults, improve cognitive function, and — perhaps most powerfully — create a sense of purpose and identity that can feel diminished in care settings.
When residents, family members, and staff create together, something special happens. The normal roles and distances dissolve. Everyone is simply a person at a canvas, making something beautiful, together.
That is what The Jolly Easel's Community Programme is built around.
"As an ex-UK Registered Nurse, I have seen first-hand the difference that genuine human connection and purposeful activity makes to people in care settings. The Jolly Easel's Community Programme is my way of continuing to give something back."
